Pr. Sylvio Indris

Dr. Sylvio Indris is currently affiliated with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, located at Hermann-von-Helmholtz-Platz 1 in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, Germany. He obtained his Diploma in Physics from the University of Hamburg, Germany, in 1996, and went on to complete his PhD in Physical Chemistry at the University of Hannover, Germany, in 2001. His doctoral research focused on “Li-ion Dynamics in Solid Electrolytes, Percolation Systems”. Following his PhD, Dr. Indris pursued post-doctoral research positions, specializing in diffusion in condensed matter, nanostructured materials, and heterogeneous catalysis at the University of Hannover, Germany, from 2001 to 2005. He furthered his research on electrode materials for Li-ion batteries as a post-doctoral researcher at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, U.S.A., from 2005 to 2007. Subsequently, Dr. Indris engaged in research on Li electrode materials at KIT in 2007-2008. He then assumed the role of a Young Research Group Leader at KIT, leading a project titled “Novel electrode materials for Li-ion batteries”, funded by BMBF grant, from 2008 to 2013. Concurrently, he served as a Principal Investigator at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm from 2011 to 2019. Since 2013, Dr. Indris has been serving as the Group Leader for “Functional Composite Materials” at the Institute for Applied Materials — Energy Storage Systems (IAM-ESS), KIT, Germany.

His recent research includes electrode materials for Li-ion batteries, Na electrode materials, solid electrolytes, diffusion measurements, solid-state NMR spectroscopy, and synchrotron diffraction/spectroscopy.
